Rent Control Now! A Rally & Fundraiser For Kshama Sawant!

  • U.E. Hall 37 South Ashland Avenue Chicago, IL, 60607 United States (map)

Skyrocketing rents and economic eviction have become commonplace in Chicago and across the country. Meanwhile real estate development is at an all-time high, affordable housing is being replaced with luxury condos, and our cities are being turned into playgrounds for the rich! It's time for working people to fight back! The demands for rent control and increased publicly owned affordable housing are being taken up across the US and are just what we need right here in Chicago. Join us for an evening of speakers and discussion with working class people from across the country on how best to fight and win the housing that we all need! The evening will include a video message from Socialist Alternative City Councilmember Kshama Sawant from Seattle who fought for and won the $15/hr minimum wage and $29 million in public spending for affordable housing in Seattle. Help build the fight for rent control, join us!
